Century Fox has added another folder to their dossier of comic book based properties. The studio has acquired the rights to Irredeemable, a Boom! Comics
comic book series written by Mark Waid and illustrated by Peter Krause.
Hansel
and Gretel: Witch Hunters writer and director Tommy Wirkola will be adapting
the superhero series for Academy Award winning director Adam McKay (Best
Adapted Screenplay for "The Big Short") to direct.
These
aren't strange waters to McKay who helped rewrite Ant-Man with Paul Rudd and
who is currently co-writing the sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp.
"When
the Plutonian, the world's greatest superhero, snaps and turns into the world's
greatest villain, only his former teammates have a chance at stopping his
rampage. But while on the run from the world's most powerful and angry being,
will these former teammates discover his secrets in time? How did he come to
this? What became of the hope and promise once inside him? What happens to the
world when its savior betrays it? What makes a hero irredeemable?"
Boom!
Studios' Ross Richie and Stephen Christy are producing with McKay and Kevin
Messick for Gary Sanchez.
