After reporting yesterday that a character named Wendy
was on her way to Central City and that she would not only be a Felicity Smoak
type character but also a new romantic interest for Barry, TV Line is now
revealing that a "square-jawed hero in his 30 to 40s" is currently being
cast to join the upcoming new season. According to them the character's name is
John Clark and he will be cynical, and have an "edge" to him.
It's difficult to pinpoint what "square-jawed"
hero John Clark might be since there are so many of them, but there might be a
clue in his name. Clark was a letterer for DC Comics, who worked on such
volumes as the All-Star Squadron, Shadow Strike, and Infinity Inc., which
included such characters as Green Lantern, Doctor Fate, Spectre, Hawkman, and
Jay Garrick. If I were a betting man, I would say the last couple of names might
be our safest bet for now considering that Hawkgirl will be in DC's Legends of
Tomorrow, and that the show's writers have already teased Garrick. Remember that
Flash helmet in the season finale of the series?
