Anthony Mackie Talks Avengers: Age of Ultron, His Future In The MCU, And Playing Another Superhero

This past Sunday Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War star Anthony Mackie held a panel at the 2015 Emerald City Comicon titled Anthony Mackie: Unleash the Falcon. There, moderator Clare Kramer asked the actor if he could compare Cap and Falcon's dynamic to Batman and Robin.

With Falcon and Cap, what's so great is there's a mutual respect. There's a soldier respect. What's great about Age of Ultron and [Civil War] is you get to see their relationship grow.

Marvel seems to be downplaying Mackie's involvement in Avengers: Age of Ultron, in fact we only know he is in the sequel because the poster had his name on it. Regardless of how big or small his role may end up being, the actor is certainly excited.

Remember the first time you saw a 3D movie, and got a headache, and were like, 'What happened to my brain?' Avengers: Age of Ultron is like that, with The Rock punching you in the face. It's like Disneyland for adults. It's like going to Vegas with an unlimited credit card. It's by far the most stupendous film experience you'll have. It's just ridiculous.

The moderator also asked the actor if he's familiar with any plans Marvel has for the future of his character.

This is how it goes. About two weeks ago, I got a call. My friend was like, 'Yo, Age of Ultron posters out.' Why didn't tell me you were in it?' 'I'm in it?' That's how Marvel rolls. When you see somebody and they say, 'We can't tell you,' that's because they don't know.

Marvel's multipicture contracts are time consuming for their lead actors, and though it doesn't necessarily prevent them from doing other projects, I'm guessing it does however prevent them playing another superhero in another studio's franchise. Regardless of his obligations towards the studio, a fan did ask the actor if he was aware of Milestone's character Icon, and if he would be interested in playing him.

No, but I'm going to Google this dude. I feel like doing another superhero at this point would take away from my Falcon-isms. And Marvel literally owns the hair on my face. Would I? Yes. Could I? No.

Avengers: Age of Ultron opens on May 1st, and Captain Civil War opens on May 6, 2016.
