There is a growing
trend within the Indie circle to attack superhero movies in whatever way they
can because (insert reason here). Nightcrawler director Dan Gilroy
called the trend a tsunami, while David Cronenberg called them juvenile, well what
he actually said was, "a superhero movie, by definition, you know, it's
comic book. It's for kids." However, it was Birdman director Alejandro
Gonzalez Inarritu who took it one-step further by calling them "right wing", and "cultural genocide".
Great directors or
not, The Avengers aren't taking any of it. While promoting The Avengers sequel,
Robert Downey Jr., Jeremy Renner, Chris Evans, and Paul Bettany offered some
carefully chosen words about the less then pleasant remarks.
