Matt
Damon is on the casting wish list for Thomas McCarthy’s untitled Catholic
Church’s sex abuse scandal film. The story is based in the Boston Globe’s Pulitzer
Prize winning articles that report the cover-up of sexual abuse within the
Boston Catholic Church and the attempts to hide it.
If
Damon chooses to star in the film, we would play the lead reporter Mike
Rezendes, who investigated and first published the story.
According
to The Wrap McCarthy’s film will follow “a year-long investigation by the Boston Globe’s spotlight team, which
interviewed victims and reviewed thousands of pages of documents. Their
reporting eventually led to the resignation of Cardinal Bernard Law, who hid
years of serial abuse by other priests, and opened the floodgates to other
disturbing revelations around the world.”
Very similar to All the President’s Men, starring
Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman, aka Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, who
through Deep Throat (the alias of the informant not the porn film)uncovered the
Watergate scandal
