Ghost In The Shell: Arise – First 8 Minutes

Here are the first 8 minutes of the new Ghost in the Shell anime, Ghost in the Shell: Arise directed by Kise Kazuchika (Blood: The Last Vampire, Dennou Coil, Neon Genesis Evangelion and other Ghost in the Shell projects) and written by Ubukata Tow (Mardock Scramble).

Ghost in the Shell: Arise will be a four part series with each episode running for 50 minutes, in which the origin of Mokoto Kusanagi, aka The Major is revealed and the reason why the Section 9 team came together is also explained.

The story is “set in 2027, one year after the end of the fourth non-nuclear war. Newport City is still reeling from the war's aftermath when it suffers a bombing caused by a self-propelled mine. Then, a military officer implicated in arms-dealing bribes is gunned down.”

“During the investigation, Public Security Section 9’s Daisuke Aramaki encounters Motoko Kusanagi, the cyborg wizard-level hacker assign to the military’s Secret Unit 501. Batou, a man with the “eye that does not sleep,” suspects that Kusanagi is the one behind the bombing. The Niihama Prefectural Police detective Togusa is pursuing his own dual cases of the shooting death and a prostitute’s murder. Motoko herself is being watched by Secret Unit 501’s head Kurutsu and cyborg agents”

Ghost in the Shell: Arise is also going to get a short theatrical release in June and it’s schedule to be released in Japan on Blu-Ray and DVD on July 26th
