Speaking
to Thompson on Hollywood, screenwriter Steve Knight (Locke) revealed that the
sequel to the 2013 "adaptation" of author Max Brooks's novel of the
same name “it’s not quite like the other,” he says, “we're starting with clean
slate. When they've signed off we're on."
The
first movie had four writers (Matthew Michael Carnahan, Drew Goddard, Damon
Lindelof, and J. Michael Straczynski) and still had multiple problems, which
forced director Marc Forster to re-shoot almost half of it. It was almost at
the top of my top 10 most disappointing movies of that year, so I won't be
running to the theaters to see it when it comes out, however I'm intrigued with
this "clean slate" Knight speaks of.
World
War Z 2 will be directed by Juan Antonio Bayona (The Impossible).
