Well ahead of
the official full-length trailer, Paramount Pictures has released a new short
teaser for their upcoming loose adaptation of Masamune Shirow's iconic sci-fi
manga series Ghost in the Shell.
The trailer
will debut November 13 at a special event in Tokyo with stars Scarlett Johansson who is playing the Major, Takeshi Kitano who is
playing Chief Daisuke Aramaki, and director Rupert Sanders
("Snow White and the Hunstman") attending.
Based on the internationally-acclaimed sci-fi property, Ghost In The Shell
follows the Major (Scarlett Johansson), a special ops, one-of-a-kind
human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to
stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremist, Section 9 is faced with an
enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotics' advancements in cyber
technology.
Ghost in the Shell also stars Michael Pitt, Juliette Binoche, Michael
Wincott, Pilou Asbæk, Rila Fukushima, Chin Han, and Chris Obi.
From a script by Jonathan Herman ("Straight Outta Compton") and
Jamie Moss ("Street Kings"), Ghost in the Shell opens in theaters on
March 31, 2017.
