Actors Jake
Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano, Kelly Macdonald and Bill Nighy are in different stages
of negotiations to join the already confirmed Tilda Swinton in Okja, the next
project coming from Snowpiercer director Bong Joon-ho.
Details about the
multilingual monster movie are vague, but according to The Wrap, the project is
said to feature a Korean female lead at the center of the English-speaking supporting
characters, whose scenes will be set in New York.
Expected to begin
production early next year, Okja is the second movie Joon-ho has directed that
features plenty of English-speaking actors. For his previous film, Snowpiercer,
the filmmaker gathered plenty of talented actors including Tilda Swinton, Chris
Evans, Jamie Bell, Octavia Spencer, Ed Harris, Allison Pill, and John Hurt.
There is no telling whom
Joon-ho will or has cast to play the lead female character, but Donna Bae and
Ko Ah-sung frequently star in the director's projects.
