James Gunn's last year slip of the tongue about Marvel Studios not having a
Hall H panel at this year's San Diego Comic-Con as been confirmed by several news outlets, whom report that the
studio won't be stopping by with goodies to offer. Like many other studios,
Marvel always made use of the convention to promote their products, and though
last year's panel was slightly underwhelming due to last minute business hiccups
like Joaquin Phoenix backing down from playing Doctor Strange, many were hoping
that this year the studio would put on a big spectacle like they are known to
do. Remember Tom Hiddleston coming out as Loki?
It looks like Marvel has decided to skip the event altogether, and though
no official response has been given, the current rumor is that the studio might
be thinking about presenting their future movies somewhere else, like Disney's D23
Expo perhaps, which offers a competition free environment for the studio.
If Marvel decides that D23 is the way to go, then we should expect to hear
and see something about Captain: America Civil War, Doctor Strange, Thor:
Ragnarok, Spider-Man, and Guardians of the Galaxy 2 sometime between August 14
and 16, which is when Disney's convention is held.
As for who will be at this year's Hall H, well with Marvel out of the way
we should expect a more comprehensive look at the properties Warner Bros. and
Fox have. Warner will more than likely share something new from Zack Snyder's
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as well as a first look at David Ayer's
Suicide Squad. As for Fox, they have Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse, and Tim
Miller's Deadpool.
