Not unlike the old
studio system where directors, writers, actors, crew, etc… often-signed long-term
contracts exclusively with the studios, these "new" multipicture
deals that Warner Bros. and Marvel offer their actors can be intimidating to
the star since they are basically signing off a big part of their lives.
Speaking to AZ
Central, Margot Robbie, who recently signed on to star as Harley Quinn in David
Ayer's Suicide Squad, spoke to that effect, saying that it is daunting to have
this long term commitment, and yet she doesn't believe she will ever get bored.
"Yeah,
that's daunting," she replied. "You
don't need to have commitment issues to be frightened by the fact that you
might have just signed 10 years of your life away. … But with her, it's a
character I don't think would ever get boring. Ever. So if they did Suicide Squad One, Two and Three, I would be over
the moon about it."
Opening on August 5, 2016, the Suicide Squad stars Will
Smith (Deadshot), Cara Delevingne (Enchantress), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn),
Jared Leto (Joker), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), and Viola Davis (Amanda
Waller).
