One of the things that
sets Marvel Studios apart from other direct competitors is the way they were
able to entwine their standalone big screen adaptations into one big "cohesive"
story that is constantly being expanded, and all this thanks to their famous
long term plans, which Warner Bros. and DC Comics don't seem to have. At all!
Now in all fairness i'm
not saying that DC and Warner should try and replicate the same model that Marvel
is using, as that would only reinforce the idea that Marvel is doing things
right, which they are, but Warner/DC should at least try and do something to
break the mold of doing Superman, Superman, Batman, Batman, Batman, Superman, ........movies,
i mean they have tons of great characters and hardly use them, on the big
screen at least.
In a recent interview to
IGN, David S. Goyer, who is the Joss Whedon of DC, as asked if the tv shows (Arrow,
Flash, Constantine and perhaps Gotham) would in any way tie in with the movies.
Well Goyer thought this was a good opportunity to speak about Warner's big game
plan and said:
"I mean, it’s too
early. I know that Warner Bros. would love to make their universe more
cohesive. There have been a lot of general conversations about that, but it’s
really, really early. I’m not sure. Marvel has had enormous success, but I’m
not sure that everybody should try to emulate them either. It’s just been vague
conversations so far."
Too early? Too early? WTF
man. Marvel has already made eight movies in their CU, and have five more on
the way and has plans until (at least) 2028. Too early? Put your s%&$
together and start putting a plan together. If you don't want to be like Marvel
fine, but do something, don't just have "vague conversations". And by
the way cramming as much heroes as possible into one movie, without any kind of
back-story for them could backfire.
So DC fans frustrated
much?
