Bryan Singer Talks Wolverine’s Claws And Removing Rogue From X-Men: Days of Future Past

If you still haven’t seen The Wolverine yet then spoiler alert, as for the rest of us that did, you remember at the end when Logan “lost” his claws and the original ones made out of bone appear, remember? Well Empire recently released a series of 25 X-Men: Days of Future Past exclusive covers showing the past and present, i.e. young Magneto/old Magneto, etc… so when it came to Wolverine’s turn he had the bones claws in the “younger” version but adamantium ones in the future version, so what gives? Well in the interview he gave Empire, Singer was a little bit vague as to why Wolverine suddenly has adamantium claws again, he said that perhaps Magneto could “reconstitute the adamantium claws… [Wolverine] has a different relationship with Magneto, and perhaps Magneto could forge them.” I’m not sure if we get to see that bonding experience between Magneto and Wolverine on screen or if Singer is just anticipating any kind of backlash from fans, regardless it would be very cool to see that happening, don’t you agree?

As for good ol Anne Marie, aka Rogue we reported back in December that Bryan Singer had cut out Anna Paquin’s character from the movie, but despite that Rogue recently appeared in the Empire’s covers, so what does this mean, do we get to see Rogue or not?

Here is what the director said back in December:
“Through the editing process, the sequence became extraneous. It’s a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go. Unfortunately, it was the one and only sequence Anna Paquin was in, the Rogue character was in. Even though she’s in the materials and part of the process of making the film, she won’t appear in it.”

Now the director is saying to Empire that “It does not mean that we won’t see her in the film,” and he hopes “to make the sequence available on the DVD as she was quite wonderful in it. She is an important part of the X-Men family.”

I’m dying to see X-Men: Days of Future Past, which opens on May 23rd and stars ames McAvoy (Younger Professor X), Michael Fassbender(Younger Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Patrick Stewart (Older Professor X), Ian McKellan (Older Magneto), Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Halle Berry (Storm), Ellen Page (Shadowcat), Shawn Ashmore (Iceman), Omar Sy (Bishop), Adan Canto (Sunspot), Daniel Cudmore (Colossus), Booboo Stewart (Warpath), Fan Bingbing (Blink), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Peter Dinklage (Bolivar Trask), Josh Helman (William Stryker), Evan Jonigkeit (Toad), Lucas Till (Alex Summers) and Evan Peters (Quicksilver).
