Joss Whedon Confirms Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch, Plus The Appearence Of Iron Man In Avengers 2

A couple of weeks ago we said that Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, (according to an interview with Joss Whedon) were going to be in The Avengers 2, “a brother and sister act”, Whedon said.
Now, in an interview to IGN, Joss Whedon confirmed that those were in fact the characters he was talking about.

During the interview, Whedon talked about Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch and he said:

“You know, they had a rough beginning. They’re interesting to me because they sort of represent the part of the world that wouldn’t necessarily agree with The Avengers. So they’re not there to make things easier. I’m not putting any characters in the movie that will make things easier.”

For those of you that don’t know who the characters are and where they came from, here is a quick intro. Pietro Maximoff, aka Quicksilver, super speed. Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch, user of chaos magic (alters reality and manipulates probabilities). Both are the children of Max Eisenhardt, aka Magneto.
Now for a bit of rumor. Rumor is that English actress, Saoirse Ronan is the “prototype” for Scarlet Witch. But at this point there no has been cast so it’s just a rumor.

Spoiler Alert

Whedon also talked about the appearance of Iron Man in The Avengers 2:

“Well, I feel like in Iron Man 3, even though he said, ‘I’ve changed’ — he blew up his remote suits, but I don’t think anybody thinks he doesn’t have one anymore. The question is, if The Avengers are called, does he show up? And the answer is, ‘Yes!’”

So that’s that Iron Man will appear in Avengers 2, in what capacity is still uncertain, because either Marvel re-casts Robert Downey Jr. and pay more than the 50 million he received in the previous Avengers, or they go with a different actor, or maybe, maybe Iron Man will appear but only as Tony Stark. Let’s wait and see.
