The Maze Runner: The
Death Cure, the third installment in the YA franchise starring Dylan O'Brien,
will resume production in February of next year when the movie was originally
scheduled to premiere in theaters.
Production halted on
March of this year after O'Brien sustained several serious injurious, which
included a concussion and facial fractures, resulting from an on set accident while
filming an action sequence. At the time 20th Century Fox believed they would be
able to resume filming on May 9th, but the actor's injuries were more severe
than they first seemed and the studio was forced to indefinitely postpone
production to give O'Brien time to recover.
This second delay
meant having to work out a new filming schedule since by this time both cast
and crew had gone their separate ways. Now those schedules seem to have been
worked out, and production will resume early next year in a different location.
The Maze Runner and
The Scorch Trials director Wes Ball remains attached to steer the franchise to
its conclusion, which will reach theaters on January 12, 2018.
Kaya Scodelario, Rosa Salazar, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Ki Hong Lee, and Dexter Darden are all returning
to reprise their roles.
