After a long and mysterious journey,
next week on December 18, the highly anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens premieres
and a sigh of relief was hopefully heard throughout the galaxy as millions of
fans gathered and cheered J.J. Abrams' entry on the iconic and much beloved
franchise.
But before any of that, press
junkets. Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Daisy Ridley (Rey), John Boyega (Finn), J.J.
Abrams, Gwendoline Christie (Captain Phasma), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), and
Lupita Nyong'o (Maz Kanata) recently sat down with Fox 5's entertainment
reporter Kevin McCarthy to talk about lightsabers, X-Wings, Millennium Falcon's
tight cockpit, answer the hypothetical question of In which original trilogy
movie they would like to see their character appear, and much, much more, like Abrams'
teasing the second word in the opening line of the film.
Not too long ago, Abrams
revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live that the first spoken word on Star Wars: The
Force Awakens was "This", which wasn't much to go on, until now.
By revealing that "will"
is the second word in the opening line of the film, Abrams is (probably)
teasing that The Force Awakens starts with "This will be a day long
remembered", a Darth Vader line from Star Wars (1977).
For non-Star Wars fans the
addition of such a line may sound pointless, but it is just another example of
Lucasfilm, Abrams, and co-writer Lawrence Kasdan's desire to cement this new
era of Star Wars on George Lucas original trilogy.
Star Wars:
The Force Awakens stars Carrie Fisher,
Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, John
Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Lupita Nyong'o, Adam Driver, Oscar
Isaac, Domnhall Gleason, Gwendoline Christie, Max von Sydow, Andy Serkis,
Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker, Warwick Davis, Crystal Clarke, and
Pip Andersen.
