The Syfy channel is
teaming up with Bradley Cooper, Graham King, and Todd Phillips to develop a new
sci-fi event-series based on Dan Simmon's Hugo award-winning work, Hyperion, with
Boardwalk Empire scribe Itamar Moses in charge of the show's script as well as
serving as its executive producer.
Set on the eve of
Armageddon with the entire galaxy at war, Dan Simmon's Hyperion is the story of seven pilgrims
who set forth on a voyage to seek the answers to the unsolved riddles of their
lives. Each carries a desperate hope and a terrible secret — while one may hold
the fate of humanity in his hands.
A few years ago I would
have told you that this series would probably be a dud, but Sharknados, cooking
shows, and ghosts aside, Syfy has been on a role with their sci-fi programming,
so let's hope Hyperion follows suit with good production values, script, and
casting.
