The Empire & The Rebels Get Rebranded In Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Though the Emperor, and a significant amount of the Empire's forces got taken down at the end of Return of the Jedi by the Rebels, that doesn't mean that the whole Empire just vanished.

Yesterday at the Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, an exhibition offered fans better look at the props and costumes the characters will use and wear on screen, and much more. As it turns out, the Empire is now being called the First Order, while the Rebels are now the Resistance.

Going into speculation mode, I'll say that perhaps the Battle of Endor didn't turn out the way the Rebels wanted, maybe despite the win they still lost some ground to the Empire, who after the defeat decided to tap into ancient Sith mythos to regain its powers. Maybe even canceling the ancient rule of two (one master and one disciple) to grow their numbers. I'm just speculating, but wouldn't that be a sight to behold, an army of Siths?

Anyway, we'll find out what it means, or if it means anything on December 18th.
