Those in the know, know that due to the lack of Spider-Man, Fantastic Four,
X-Men, and others characters, plus the inexistence of any sort secret identity,
Captain America: Civil War will be completely different from writer Mark
Millar, and illustrator Steve McNiven's polarizing source material. This isn't
a complete surprise as Kevin Feige himself has addressed the issue by saying
that the comics universe and the film universe are two completely separate things,
and that the former is at best a guideline for what happens in the films.
Speaking to MTV, Millar offered his two cents on the upcoming very loose
adaptation of his comic series.
"They’re a money machine, they’re amazing. Whatever they do is gonna
be a billion dollar movie and it’ll be great. You know as a fanboy I grew up,
since I was 4 or 5 I planned to be Spider-Man. Even now I still think it’s
possible! I couldn’t be more relaxed about it. Almost any other studio could
screw it up. I’ll just show up on the night and enjoy the film."
It's worth noting that Millar is currently under the employment of 20th
Century Fox, so when he says that any other studio could screw it up he is
clearly no talking about Fox.
Captain America: Civil War reaches theaters on April 29, 2016.
