There
Can Be Only One
A
while ago the rumor of a new live action Highlander movie surfaced on the web
and a lot of fans of the original movie and TV series got excited. Then another
rumor appeared, which was that Lionsgate were after Ryan Reynolds to play the
main character, either Duncan or Conner McCloud.
To
this point not much is yet known of the reboot or remake of the Highlander.
In
the 1986 movie you watched the development of Connor McLoud (Christopher
Lambert) from mortal to immortal and him being educated by Juan Sanchez
Villa-Lobos Ramirez (Sean Connory) in the art of sword fight and what it means
to be immortal. In the end of the movie with only two immortals left and
because there can only be one, he clashes with his eternal rival Victor Kruger
aka The Kurgan (Clancy Brown). He chopped of his head and becomes mortal.
On
a personal note I grown up with the tv series and loved it, the original movie
not so much. I mean if the prize for living throughout the ages fighting,
chopping other immortals heads off, gaining their “life force”, is becoming
mortal, than it’s a stupid prize, rather just be immortal.
