Moonlight breakout
star Trevante Rhodes has joined the ensemble of Shane Black's upcoming reboot
of the Predator where he will star opposite Boyd Holbrook and Olivia Munn.
Black is directing
from a script he wrote with The Monster Squad's Fred Dekker, and although plot
details are being kept under wraps, Black has affirmed that the film will not
take place in the suburbs as previously rumored.
The Predator is
expected to go into production next month for a yet unknown release.
In a past interview
with Collider, Black revealed that the new film's cast will somewhat resemble
the one from the original 1987 movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
"I think it’ll
be interesting to get a group of credible guys—the hallmark of the first one is
you have guys together that are kinda funny and self-referential and also very
tough. I don’t know that we’re going to deviate over much from that, but there
are at least a couple of factors that we’ve deliberately chosen to make it not
just that group of buff, tough guys."
Rhodes is hot from an
outstanding performance in Barry Jenkins' awards contender drama Moonlight
where he played one of three actors to inhabit the skin of Chiron.
