It seems John
Turturro had his wish granted and is currently filming a Big Lebowski spinoff,
something the actor has been talking about for years but that never came
through due to Joel and Ethan Coen's disinterest in it.
Now however, according
to Birth.Movies.Death it looks as if Turturro has taken things into his own
hands and Going Places, a remake of a 1974 French sex farce that the actor is
currently filming is actually the above-mentioned spinoff, which Turturro
wrote and is starring with Susan Sarandon, Bobby Cannavale, and Audrey
Tautou.
Details are scarce but it seems the film is centered around
Turturro's Jesus Quintana character from the original film, and will see "two petty thieves, Turturro’s
Jesus and Cannavale’s Petey, compete to give a woman (Tautou) her first orgasm
after she’s roped into their hijinks. Sarandon also ends up in their company,
playing a criminal who just got out after a long stint in prison."
The Coen brothers are not involved, creatively or
otherwise, and it's unknown if they have signed off on the project, however the
three of them have been good friends for decades, so it's unlikely that the
writing/directing duo will directly oppose something that is clearly a passion
project for the actor.
