Having already cast the
Mummy (Sofia Boutella), Invisible Man (Johnny Depp), and Dr. Jekyll (Russell
Crowe) roles, Universal is now eyeing another thespian to play a key figure in
their upcoming classic movie monsters cinematic universe.
According to Variety,
Academy Award winning actor Javier Bardem is in talks to play Frankenstein's Monster in
the cinematic universe. This is the second time Universal has approached the
actor over a role in the future franchise. The actor was once in talks to play Dr.
Jekyll, a role that ultimately went to Russell Crowe, who will play the
character in 2017s The Mummy opposite Sofia Boutella and Tom Cruise.
As part of their up-and-coming
monsterverse, Universal is also developing a Bride of Frankenstein feature film, however sources close to the project have revealed that Bardem's character is likely to appear in another
monster project before his own.
