Jurassic World
co-writer Derek Connolly has signed on to work on Legendary's upcoming sequel
to Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim.
Spartacus creator and
Daredevil season one showrunner Steven S. DeKnight is taking over the directing
duties from del Toro who remains attached to the project as a producer
alongside Thomas Tull, Mary Parent, and Jon Jashni.
It is unclear how extensive
Connolly's work will be, so it is impossible to determine if the writer will be
completely rewriting the script or just polishing it.
Back when del Toro
was attached to direct the sequel, it would have been set years after the first
movie, at a time when Jaegers had became common.
Connolly recently
penned Kong: Skull Island for Legendary, and co-wrote the sci-fi drama Intelligent
Life starring Lupita Nyong'o for DreamWorks.
