J.A. Bayona ("The
Orphanage", "The Impossible") has signed on to direct the sequel
to Colin Trevorrow's Jurassic World for Universal Pictures, Trevorrow and franchise

Rumors of Bayona's possible
hiring surfaced last year when he departed the sequel to World War Z 2 starring
Brad Pitt.
Written by Trevorrow and his writing
partner Derek Conolly, Jurassic World 2 reunites Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas
Howard.
The filmmaker is currently in
post-production on his latest film, the dazzling adaptation of Patrick Ness'
award-winning children novel, A Monster Calls.
Jurassic World 2 opens in
theaters in June 22, 2018.
