Although we all know that he will be appearing alongside Thor in Thor: Ragnarok, Hulk's future
in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been the focus of much speculation. Now a
new theory has surfaced and it pieces together previous rumors into one very interesting puzzle.
According to Geek.com's
sources, in Thor: Ragnarok, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) will become aware of Loki (Tom
Hiddleston) and Hela's (Cate Blanchett - unconfirmed) nefarious plan but is unable
to do anything about it, is banished to Sakaar, an alien world where he is
forced to become a gladiator. Without his trusted hammer Mjolnir, which has
been destroyed, Thor rises through the ranks of the arena and comes faces to
face with its champion, Hulk, whose mind at
this point is a mix of Bruce Banner's rational and smart intellect and the Hulk's
uncontrollable behavior. After a fight, both heroes team up once again and
set out on a journey to find a macguffin that will help them defeat Hela and
Loki.
Although this
is all hearsay it does incorporate many of the rumors we have heard so far, so I
wouldn't dismissed it altogether, mainly because it could be a way of
incorporating the Planet Hulk storyline without actually having to work a new
deal with Universal, who owns the character's solo movie rights, and because
it would explain how the character was absent between Avengers movies.
However the
script isn't locked down yet and changes will likely occur. Craig Kyle (Iron Man: Armored Adventures), Christopher Yost (Thor:
The Dark World), and Stephany Folsom are currently writing the script for
director Taika Waititi, who will subsequently add more humor to the finished
script of Thor: Ragnarok.
Thor: Ragnarok opens on November 3,
2017.
