After a disappointing box
office performance and an even worse critical reception, it looks like Terminator:
Genisys was the first and final nail in the rebooted franchise, which also
included two other movies and a TV companion series.
Specifics regarding the
decision are unknown but according to The Hollywood Reporter, producer David Ellison's
more creative role in Genisys may be to blame. It seems that though his vision
for the franchise was supported by Paramount, Ellison "wasn't listening to
anybody" in the development stage and that is why the franchise has been
put "on hold indefinitely".
Meanwhile a source close to
the situation claims that Ellison is not to blame and points at other
successful he produced like World War Z or Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation.
