Matthew Vaughn's 2014 sleeper hit, Kingsman: The
Secret Service is getting a sequel have you heard? Yes, back in April, sources
close to the project revealed that Fox was keen on continuing to develop Eggsy
(Taron Egerton) and the world that Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons first created
for the comic book pages. A couple of months after, Vaughn confirmed that he
was writing the sequel with an eye to direct, which of the director's own
volition would mean breaking one of his rules. Vaughn never returned to helm the
sequel of one of his movies, just look at Kick-Ass and X-Men, but since he is
so in love with the characters from Kingsman, he would not mind sitting in the
director's chair once again.
But this was back in June, and today 20th Century Fox
has officially announced that the yet untitled sequel to Kingsman: The Secret
Service will hit theaters on June 16, 2017, which positions the movie between
World War Z on June 9, and Wonder Woman on June 23, but also in the same day as
Pixar's Cars 3.
Despite some scheduling problems, Egerton will return
and reprise his character, though where the sequel will lead the dashing super
spy remains to be seen.
