Fox's expansion plan for the
X-Men franchise includes an adaptation of the New Mutants, and today they have
taken another step in bringing the superhero team to the big screen. Director
and co-writer Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars) has sent out a tweet
announcing that the first draft of the New Mutants adaptation has been
completed.

It's unknown which iteration
of the team Boone and co-writer Knate Lee are hopeful of bringing into
theaters, but it wouldn't be a bad idea if the version they picked is the one
featuring the first appearance of the fan favorite character Cable. The main reason would be because of his connection to the X-Force, another project that has been
floating around Fox's offices for awhile now.
No release date or start of
production have been announced but Boone still has the adaptation of Stephen
King's novel The Stand to direct so I would imagine that we are still a long
ways away from seeing the team on the big screen.
