Jeremy Irons and
Brendan Gleeson have joined the cast of Justin Kurzel's Assassin's Creed where they
will star opposite Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard. Gleeson will Fassbender's
father while Irons will play the father of Cotillard's character.
Set in the same world as the one from the popular
video games but not being an adaptation of any of them, Assassin's Creed stars
Michael Fassbender as Callum Lynch, a man who discovers that he is a descendent of the mysterious Assassin society
after he unlocks the "genetic memories that allow him to relive the adventures
of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. After gaining incredible
knowledge and skills he’s poised to take on the oppressive Knights Templar in
the present day."
Opening on December 21, 2016, Assassin's Creed also stars Michael Kenneth
Williams (12 Years a Slave), and Ariane Labed (Before Midnight).
