Even for a supporting character in the X-Men franchise,
Colossus always felt like he could have been any other mutant. He had a
glorified cameo in X2. He's virtually mute in X-Men: The Last Stand despite
being part of the final battle, and for X-Men: Days of Future Past his speaking
parts, which you can count on the fingers of one hand, were significantly cut
because some are were in the Rogue cut of the movie. For Deadpool however, it
seems that things will be substantially different.
"Yeah, I think you're going to get to see more of
who Colossus is," Andre Tricoteux said of his version of the character. "Like
I said, we kept him really traditional to the comic book. So yes, I think
people will get a better sense of who he is. But I think there's still a lot
more to be told about him. Colossus has been around in the comics since the
'70s, so I mean, I think you could do your own movie on him. Yeah, you're going
to get to see a little bit more of who he is and kind of his outlook on the
world."
Giving Colossus his own movie may be a stretch, for
now at least, but I'm glad that director Tim Miller and screenwriters Rhett
Reese and Paul Wernick opted to give the superhero a voice.
Deadpool scheduled his 4th wall breaking for February
12, 2016.
