After reports that Zack Snyder and HBO had entered
negotiations to do a series based on Dave Gibbons and Alan Moore's seminal
graphic novel Watchmen, the network has came out and confirmed that there have
been discussions, but cautions that things are still very early in the process.
"Preliminary discussions regarding Watchmen have occurred, but we have no
additional information and no deals are in place," HBO said in a
statement.
Snyder of course directed the 2009 "adaptation"
and that would make him the ideal candidate for helming the show, but with
Justice League Parts One and Two on the way the director may end up just
producing it.
At this time, it is unclear if the series would be
just another adaptation of the material, an adaptation of the prequel series
that came out a few years ago, or an original story set in the world that Moore
and Gibbons created.
