Not once, not twice, but three times
has Ash (Bruce Campbell) decided to read a couple of passages from the Necronomicon, so it's only fitting
that for the upcoming Ash Vs. Evil Dead series, our chainsaw for a hand of a
"hero" would stick with what
he knows best and once again read from the book of the dead and release the
evil residing within.
"This is
a guy who thought he could just quietly live a life of quiet desperation
and—no," said Campbell to EW. "He brings it back upon himself and the
world, and he of all people must save the world from his own doing. That’s
classic Evil Dead. Ash is basically responsible for everything."
Scheduled to premiere in late
2015 the series also stars Lucy Lawless as Ruby a mysterious figure who
believes Ash is the cause of the Evil outbreaks. Jill Marie Jones as
Amanda Fisher, a disgraced Michigan State Trooper set to find our anti-hero Ash
and prove his responsibility in the grisly murder of her partner. Ray
Santiago as Pablo Simon Bolivar, an idealistic immigrant who becomes Ash’s
loyal sidekick. Mimi Rogers as Suzy Maxwell, a woman who is reunited
with her family and several uninvited guests after a freak accident, and Dana
DeLorenzo as Kelly Maxwell, Suzy's moody wild child trying to outrun her
past.
Campbell will be reprising his
role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter
who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the
terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all
of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and
literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero
from its “Evil” grip.
The cast is led by Bruce
Campbell (Evil Dead, “Burn Notice”) in the role of Ash Williams,
Lucy Lawless (“Salem,” “Spartacus”) as Ruby a mysterious figure who believes
Ash is the cause of the Evil outbreaks, Jill Marie Jones (“Sleepy Hollow”) as
Amanda Fisher, a disgraced Michigan State Trooper set to find our anti-hero Ash
and prove his responsibility in the grisly murder of her partner, Ray Santiago
(“Touch,” Meet the Fockers) as Pablo Simon Bolivar, an
idealistic immigrant who becomes Ash’s loyal sidekick and Dana DeLorenzo (A
Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas) as Kelly Maxwell, a moody wild child
trying to outrun her past.
