It seems that Liam
Neeson is getting ready to do another film in his Neeson-verse (yes!). The
actor is currently in talks to star in director Brian Kirk's (Game of Thrones)
upcoming action-thriller Narco Sub. Penned by David Guggenheim (Safe House),
Narco Sub follows Neeson's character, a dishonored Naval Officer forced into a
life of crime when an Ecuadorian drug lord forces him to pilot a submarine full
of cocaine past the U.S. boarder.
Though it is always
fun to see Neeson play a guy with a particular set of skills, I feel that his
days as Bryan Mills from Taken seem more like a distant memory that has become
muddy with its constant repetition.
The film has been in
production hell for a number of years. Tony Scott, Doug Liman, and Antoine
Fuqua have all at one time or another been interested in one of the film's several
incarnations.
The filmmaker made
his feature film debut with the 2006 Middletown, but is perhaps best known for
his work on Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, Luther, Dexter, and The Tudors.
Neeson just wrapped J.A.
Bayona's (The Impossible) dark fantasy A Monsters Call, and is currently
shooting Martin Scorsese's drama Silence.
