Director James Wan Talks The Conjuring 2 And DC Superhero Film

After gaining experience with such films like Saw, Dead Silence, and Insidious, director James Wan really hit it big with The Conjuring, which managed to not only please audiences and critics alike but also gross nearly $230 million worldwide. After the hit, Wan changed his pace for a more action driven and fast franchise, Furious 7. It was a long and difficult production due to obvious reasons, and now that he 's done with it the director is set to return to the genre that first gave him notoriety with The Conjuring 2.

Speaking to Collider at the Furious 7 press junket, Wan gave an update on horror sequel and revealed in part why he will return.

I’ve been working very heavily on the script, and the idea of continuing the saga of Ed and Lorraine Warren is actually very exciting. So the idea of going back to kind of nurture my baby that I created is part of the reason why I’m going back to do The Conjuring 2. And in some ways it’ll be like a holiday break for me after this film.

The director, who also stated that he wants to do a another big project after The Conjuring, was asked if he would helm one of the upcoming DC films since both he and studio have built such a great relationship.

Yeah it’s weird. Continuing that family tradition, [Warner Bros. is] like that and it’s almost like they’re very old school in that respect, which you don’t see much of anymore.

Pressed on the matter, Wan eventually revealed that at the very least he thought of the possibility.

Yeah, there are some that I like… I am open to all possibilities at this point.

Depending on where the filmmaker status lies after Furious 7 and The Conjuring 2, a future in the DC cinematic universe is certainly within the realm of possibilities.
