By
now even diehard fans must be smelling the iffyness coming from director Josh
Trank's reboot of the Fantastic Four. We're seven months away from release and
for a franchise that needs to redeem itself we have seen next to nothing.
Bleeding Cool just put out a report claiming that some studios bosses are not
pleased with how the movie turned out, and described it as "Chronicle 2
rather than Fantastic 4". They add that a well-connected senior executive
has told them that Fantastic 4 is a "mess" and that there is some
major unease behind the scenes in regards to the movie, and that as a result
some expensive Louisiana reshoots are being demanded, with rebuilt set and all.
On
the other hand, Badass Digest claims that they too have heard about reshoots
but unlike Bleeding Cool they say that they have been planned for well over a
month. According to them, the reports coming from the film are 50/50, some say
it is good, while others say it is a mess. They continue and add that apparently
the reason for the reshoots is to add more action scenes to the movie, which is
said to be a character driven origin story. Trank's is still attached as
director. "This is very much an old school origin story - they aren't really
"The Fantastic Four" until the very end of the movie - and I wonder
if that has left Fox confused with what to show and how to show it."
As always take it with a grain of salt, but what do
you think?
