Entertainment Weekly has released the first official images from Brad
Bird's upcoming Disney inspired sci-fi drama Tomorrowland. The stills come with
a few plot details given by co-writer Damon Lindelof.
"What
Hogwarts is to magic, Tomorrowland is to science: They are both easy to find if
you are a wizard and very difficult to find if you’re a Muggle,” said
Lindelof. “Walt Disney is not a character
in our movie, but he is referenced as having some involvement in this
mysterious place called Tomorrowland, as a huge futurist and aficionado of
space travel, rocketry, cities of the future, and space travel.”
Tomorrowland stars George Clooney, Hugh Laurie, Britt Robertson, Raffey
Cassidy, Thomas Robinson and Kathryn Hahn and opens on December 12, 2014.
Tomorrowland Synopsis:
Bound by a shared destiny, a bright, optimistic teen
bursting with scientific curiosity and a former boy-genius inventor jaded by
disillusionment embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an
enigmatic place somewhere in time and space that exists in their collective
memory as “Tomorrowland.” Bird has gathered a great team behind the lens with
Oscar® winning director of photography Claudio Miranda (“Life of Pi,” “The
Curious Case of Benjamin Button”), production designer Scott Chambliss (“Star
Trek,” “Star Trek Into Darkness,” “Cowboys & Aliens”), Oscar® nominated
costume designer Jeffrey Kurland (“Inception,” “Ocean’s Eleven”) and Academy
Award®-winning editor Walter Murch (“The English Patient,” “Cold Mountain”).
