Following a short interview with
Entertainment Weekly, New Line's President, Toby Emmerich revealed a few
details about the Shazam movie, including tone, Dwayne Johnson recently
announced Black Adam role, and writer.
"It’s a DC
comic, but it’s not a Justice League character, and it’s not a Marvel comic.
The tone and the feeling of the movie will be different from the other range of
comic book movies."
Though not revealing
much, Emmerich did say something that may ease fans concerns about the rumor in
which Warner Bros. had apparently sent out a memo stating that future DC movies
would not have jokes in them.
NL President went
on to talk about the Dwayne Johnson's involvement in the film as Black Adam, calling
him a complex character.
"The villain in superhero
movies is often, I think, what makes the movie. And I thought Dwayne’s take on
the character, and the way that he saw Black Adam, was really compelling and
fun."
As for the writer, the Warner Bros. subsidiary as tapped Goosbumps, and Jack the Giant Slayer scribe, Darren Lemke.
