Marvel has released a featurette featuring Joe
Quesada, Neil Gaiman, and Axel Alonso about the importance of the recent
reprint of Miracleman.
As critically acclaimed and influential as the Alan
Moore/Neil Gaiman run on Miracleman is, those issues are a pain in the ass to
actually track down. Blame it on the collapse of Warrior magazine and the
subsequent legal tangle surrounding the Miracleman/Marvelman franchise. But
finally, over four years after Marvel announced they had acquired the rights to
Marvelman, they've begun reprinting that Moore/Gaiman run. This series is
basically an issue-for-issue reprint of the original, with a hefty dose of
back-matter and Silver Age reprints crammed into each issue for good measure.
Some speculate that idea behind bringing Miracleman back, is to introduce him in the MCU, which is a loooooooooonnnnnnnnggggggggg shot, considering the other more famous characters that Marvel has, but in the Cap 2 post credit-scene, Baron Strucker (Thomas Ktreschmann) refers to the Twins (Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch) as the age of miracles. Just food for thought.
Whatever the case may be, here is
the featurette.
