In
a recent interview to THR, author George R.R. Martin says that there
has been discussions about ending the HBO's hit series Game ofThrones on the big screen.
The
series is quickly catching up on his hit fantasy series A Song of
Fire and Ice, as Martin's last book, the fifth in a series of seven
was released in 2011, meanwhile the HBO show is premiering its fourth
season, Sunday, April 6th,
but Marin doesn't seem to concerned as he tells the news outlet that
the show might run longer than the books.
"It
all depends on how long the main series runs. Do we run for seven
years? Do we run for eight? Do we run for 10? The books get bigger
and bigger (in scope). It might need a feature to tie things up,
something with a feature budget, like $100 million for two hours.
Those dragons get real big, you know."
THR
also says that Martin's three prequel novellas, "Tales of Dunk
and Egg" set in Westeros 90 years before the events in the show
is also being considered to be adapted to the big screen.
