Though
it's still far off, Ridley Scott, Damon Lindelof, and Noomi Rapace
offered a few hints in regards to the story of the long awaited(?)
sequel to Prometheus.
Ridely
Scott has been quoted saying that Prometheus 2 will be a direct
sequel to the first film:
“I
know where it’s going. I know that to keep [David] alive is
essential and to keep [Elizabeth] alive is essential and to go where
they came from, not where I came from, is essential..."
Noomi Rapace, who will be reprising her role as Elizabeth, told The Playlist:
“There
are all these religious aspects and there are very interesting
conversations…there are a lot of things to explore in there and to
continue."
In regards to all the unanswered questions left from the first film, screenwriter Damon Lindelof says:
“Ridley
was very interested in talking about, ‘What are the answers to the
questions that Prometheus is posing that are not necessarily
definitively spelled out in the body of Prometheus?’”
He also discussed how Prometheus was a quasi-prequel to Alien:
“This
movie has two children’: One of these children grows up to be
Alien, but the other child is going to grow up, and God knows what
happens to them. And that’s what the sequel to Prometheus would
be.”
There isn't a release date for Prometheus 2 yet, but considering that the director is currently in post with Exodus: Gods and Kings, and has The Martian afterwards, we can expect to see the sequel as early as 2016.
What
do you think of the plans for Prometheus 2?
