It seems that Guardians
of the Galaxy director James Gunn is getting ready to take a break from his
Marvel duties. The director has revealed that The Belko Experiment, a script
that he wrote sometime ago has finally been taken out of the shelve and is
getting ready to be put into production.
"I’m
incredibly excited to announce that we’re commencing production on a new film, The Belco Experiment, from my own script", wrote Gunn on his Facebook page. "The story revolves around the American Belco
company in South America which is mysteriously sealed off at the beginning of a
work day, and its employees are ordered to kill each other or be killed
themselves. This starts an escalation of violence, where we discover the true
nature of each and every Belco employee."
Gunn
won't be directing the project, mainly I'm assuming because the sequel to
Guardians of the Galaxy is scheduled to hit theaters in 2017, but he has found
a director that he believes shares the same vision. Wolf Creek and Wolf Creek 2 director, Greg McLean has been
tapped to direct Gunn's script, which is currently in pre-production, and looking for cast and crew.
Principal photography begins next year in Bogota, Colombia.
