Warner
Bros. adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book is running
through directors like there is no tomorrow. Initially director
Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu was set to helm the adaptation, then he
left and some time later Ron Howard was eying the project, and now
Andy Serkis is the one attached to direct.
Serkis
is better known for playing Gollum in The Lord of the Rings trilogy
and King Kong, but the actor has been honing his directorial skills
as the second unit director on Peter Jackson's The Hobbit trilogy,
and if that isn't a good school then I don't now what is.
Warner's
adaptation of the book will be competing with Disney's adaptation,
which is already being developed and will be directed by Jon Favreau.
Disney's version is planned to be released on October 9th,
2015.
The
actor can next be seen as Ceaser in the upcoming Dawn of the Planet
of the Apes, and he is also attached to helm the motion capture
version of George Orwell's Animal Farm.
