Yesterday it was announced that Michael Douglas would be starring as Hank Pym in Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man. The sudden confirmation took the web by surprise and so far opinions seem to be divided into two groups the no, no, no, no and the he will do great.
Speaking to Reuters Douglas said:
“I’ve been dying to do a Marvel
picture for so long. The script is really fun, the director is really good.
Dylan (the actor’s 13-year-old son) will love it. He’ll have a picture he can
see.”
Actors’ taking on roles because
they want to connect with their children in some way isn’t exactly new, but
Douglas also gave another reason for taking on the role:
“Sometimes – like (when) they
didn’t see you for Liberace – you’ve got to shake them up a little bit and have
some fun.”
Douglas will star opposite Paul
Rudd, who we can pretty much guess will be playing Scott Lang, the new Ant-Man.
Ant-Man opens on July 31st,
2015.
