The last we heard about a sequel to the 2011 The Adventures
of Tintin, Steven Spielberg confirmed that Peter Jackson was going to direct
it, and that he was aiming for a Christmas of 2015 release.
While speaking with BadTaste at a The Hobbit: The
Desolation of Smaug premiere, the director confirmed that he will indeed be
directing the second one, but only after he finishes with The Hobbit trilogy.
"As soon as I'm free of The Hobbit, I'll be going
back into doing 'Tintin.' It was held up by The Hobbit, but we have every
intention of doing another Tintin movie and it's just waiting on me to be done
with these 'Hobbit' movies."
For some time now there has been a rumor that the
Seven Crystal Ball and Prisioners of the Sun would be the main focuses of the
upcoming sequel, and Jackson had previously said that he would like to do a
Destination Moon and Explorers on the Moon as the third and fourth movies in
the franchise.
