After
breaking ties with Warner Bros., Legendary Picture is already laying out the
preparations for their new deal with Universal.
Legendary
is preparing to join Universal in co-financing Gary Shore’s Dracula origin
story starring Luke Evans as Dracula, which is currently being shot in Ireland
and will be released on August 8th, 2014.
Legendary
is also in an early stage of co-funding the highly anticipated Jurassic Park 4,
by Colin Trevorrow.
With
its new contract to Universal, Legendary is expecting to spend on average 275
million dollars annually into Universal productions for the first two years,
after which they will begin to invest 350 million dollars annually, for the
next three years. Despite its new contract with Universal, Legendary will not
have any rights regarding the Fast & Furious franchise, as well as the
Illumination Entertainment animation movies.
Let’s
not forget that despite leaving Warner Bros. Legendary still have rights to
multiple properties back at Warner, such as Interstellar, Godzilla, 300: Rise
of an Empire and Crimson Peak.
