Let’s
me begin by saying that there are always problems during the shooting of a
movie or TV show, but when the script begins making no sense then you have a massive
problem. Well apparently that’s what happened to Brad Pitt’s World War Z, the
first ever zombie themed movie he is in and something like this happens.
Despite
all the trailers and posters, the movie has been riddled with problems behind the
cameras. First the movie was over budget, reaching the 200 million dollars
mark, which is to be expected from such epic film, but has we can imagine the
studios don’t like to overpay for anything, even if it has Brad Pitt’s face
selling theater seats. The second problem is that the movie and script are so intricate
that it begun making no sense what so ever, and this was so big of a problem
that Paramount Pictures hired one of the co-writers of Prometheus, Damon Lindelof.
Now I don’t want denigrate Lindelof work and capability but from a script stand
point, Prometheus was less than acceptable, from 1 to 10, probably a 3 or 4.
But never the less the studio did hire him to fix the script, so here are the
paths he gave to the producers so the movie wouldn’t fall behind on its release
date. These paths were given in an interview to Vanity Fair Magazine.
"Road One... Is there material
that can be written to make that stuff work better? To have it make sense? To
have it have emotional stakes?. And Road Two, which I think is the long-shot
road, is that everything changes after Brad leaves Israel."
"I didn't think anyone was going
to say, 'Let's throw it out and try something else.' So when I gave them those
two roads and they sounded more interested in Road Two, I was like, 'To be
honest with you, good luck selling that to Paramount."
So basically road one is just to
shoot some additional scenes to glue everything and to make the movie make
sense and road two is to reshoot a good part of the movie with a new and
improved script.
Well good luck
