Now
this must be manga or anime season or something. Director Guillermo del Toro is
going to adapt Naoki Urasawa’s manga, Monster for HBO. The manga is a 18 colume
thriller that follows a doctor in a global search for a former patient that has
become one of the most evil sociopaths the world has ever seen.
Co-writing
the project is Steven Thompson (Dr. Who and Sherlock), who is going to write
the pilot for del Toro to direct.
According
to Deadline, the project was originally going to be made at New Line as a
feature, but they thought it was too clumsy, so they scrapped it. Apparently
director Guillermo del Toro was wooing Naoki Urasawa the creator of the manga,
over a long period of time so Naoki could trust him with his creation
Novel
synopsis:
Brilliant doctor Kenzo Tenma risks his reputation and promising
career to save the life of a critically wounded young boy. Unbeknownst to him,
this child is destined for a terrible fate. Conspiracies, serial murders, and a
scathing depiction of the underbelly of hospital politics are all masterfully
woven together in this compelling manga thriller.
And speaking of monster, here are two new poster of the upcoming Pacific
Rim.
Synopsis:
When
legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju started
rising from the sea, a gigantic war breaks out to save Humanity and its
resources from possible annihilation. To stop these monsters and win the war, a
special type of weapon is developed, the Jaegers, massive robots
that are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are connected in a
neural bridge. The Jaeger can fight one on one with the Kaiju since
they are of the same size and power, but not even they are proving to be
powerful enough to stop the relentless Kaiju from taking over
the world and wipe out Humanity. On the verge of certain defeat, the allied
forces defending mankind have but little choice but to turn to two of the most
unlikely heroes on the force, an untested trainee Mako Mori played
by Rinko Kikuchi and Raleigh Becket a washed
up former pilot, played by Charlie Hunnam. Both of them (Rinko
and Raleigh) are teamed to drive the legendary but apparently completely
obsolete Jaeger from the past. The two unlikely heroes became
the last hope for mankind as they alone fight the Kaiju for
the future of all Humanity.
Directing
the movie is the brilliant director Guillermo del
Toro, who brought us both Hellboy movies and Pan's
Labyrinth.Starring in this anticipated film are Charlie
