Warner
Bros. Pictures has released the first trailer for Geostorm, Dean Devlin's (writer/producer
"Independence Day") upcoming eco sci-fi action-thriller, a.k.a. disaster
movie.
After
an unprecedented series of natural disasters threatened the planet, the world’s
leaders came together to create an intricate network of satellites to control
the global climate and keep everyone safe. But now, something has gone
wrong—the system built to protect the Earth is attacking it, and it’s a race
against the clock to uncover the real threat before a worldwide geostorm wipes
out everything...and everyone along with it.
Written
by Devlin and Paul Guyot ("Leverage"), the film stars Gerard Butler as
Jake, a scientist who, along with his brother, Max, played by Jim Sturgess, is
tasked with solving the satellite's malfunction.
Opening
in theaters on October 20, Geostorm also stars Alexandra Maria Lara, Abbie
Cornish, Daniel Wu, Ed Harris, Katheryn Winnick, Andy Garcia, Robert Sheehan,
Drew Powell, Eugenio Derbez, Amr Waked, and Adepero Oduye.
