Joe
Carnahan ("The Grey") has dropped out of Bad Boys for Life, the third
entry in the Will Smith and Martin Lawrence starring action comedy franchise.
According
to THR, some sources claim Carnahan left over creative differences, while
others say
it was due to scheduling conflicts.
Whatever
the case may be, Carnahan's exit puts the eager reunion between Smith and Lawrence
on halt.
The
project spent several years stuck in development, but only took off once Smith
finally committed to doing it. Bad Boys for Life was eying a fall start of
production for a November 8, 2018 release, but now it is unclear if it will
meet the deadline.
In
addition to directing, Carnahan also wrote the most recent draft of the script.
Sources say that the studio is already searching for a new director as well as
a new writer.
The
Bad Boys franchise sees Smith and Lawrence playing a couple of Miami police
detectives who tend to leave a trail of destruction in their mission to take
down the villains.
The
first two movies, released in 1995 and 2003, were directed by Michael Bay.
